What is the Happy & Healthy 100 mile challenge

Now offering 50 mile option!

This personal challenge event now provides a 50 mile option. Join the challenge and challenge yourself!

This is a multi- activity stage challenge.  You pick the activity, we provide the challenge!!

Run, walk, weights, yoga ...and MORE.  Each day you are given a mileage
challenge and a happiness tip.

You can select one or more activity to complete your mileage for the day.

Example:

2mi walking, 2 mi yoga, 1 mi gardening OR do all the mileage with one activity of your choice.

Everyone will cover the same distance everyday and get to the finish together. Every movement is great for the mind and body. We want a challenge that everyone can participate in. As much as we love to run, we understand that not everyone can or wants to run everyday. Hence, we have put together this idea of a multi-activity virtual stage challenge.

All your self-propelled activities (subject to approval if not listed below) will count towards this challenge. We have also built in catch up/rest days into the schedule. DO NOT worry if you don't complete the required mileage on the required day. It's OK, that is what the catch up days are for.  The focus of this challenge is to keep your body moving and your mind happy. One mandatory rule = BE KIND to yourself.

Great Family Activity

Fantastic way to keep the family together, motivated, and establishing the foundation for a happy and healthy lifestyle.

So join together, challenge yourselves, and don't forget to smile and laugh during the process.

When is the challenge?

The stage challenge will run from September 15, 2020 to October 15, 2020.

Mondays and Thursdays are catch up or rest days. You can make up your miles from the previous days here.
Most of the longer segments are scheduled on on the weekends.

John A. Ulis Memorial Scholarship - Supporting kids with Type 1 Diabetes

All proceeds will go to fund the John A. Ulis "Run 2 End T1D" Scholarship.

Each year I give 1K scholarship to a graduating High School Senior living with Type 1 Diabetes and 1K to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to help find a cure.

This scholarship was created in honor of my father who died from a life long battle with the disease.

What happens during the challenge

Use your tracking app, your GPS watch, STRAVA and/or take a picture of yourself, your watch or the scenery.

Log Activity

Log your proof for each activity and check your status towards your 100 mile goal.

Qualifying Activities and Conversion

All activities must be purposeful e.g. miles while grocery shopping in a store, walking from your car in the parking lot to the store, do not count (unless you purposefully parked further away to get a walk in); however, if you walk, jog, bike or swim to the store from home, those miles getting there and back count.

  • Run 1mi = 1 mi

  • Walk 1mi = 1mi

  • Bike 3mi = 1 mi

  • Swim 1mi = 3 mi

  • 15 min weights = 1mi

  • 15 min fitness class = 1mi

  • 15min Paddle/Row (Kayak, canoe, SUP, machine) = 1mi

  • 15min Elliptical = 1mi

  • 15min Yardwork (continuous movement) = 1mi

  • 15min Racquet Sport (continuous play) = 1mi
